Learning should be easier to access.

How we support different ways of using EMS, where there are limitations, and how to get help.

Our approach

We want EMS to be useful to people with different access needs, whether they use a keyboard, touchscreen, screen reader or browser zoom.

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA as our design and testing target. We have not completed an independent accessibility audit of the whole site and do not claim full conformance.

Ways to use the site

  • Use the Skip to content link to move past navigation. It appears when you start navigating with the keyboard.
  • Use Tab and Shift + Tab to move between links and controls. A visible outline shows the focused item.
  • Use your browser’s zoom and text settings to make content easier to read. These information pages reflow on smaller screens.
  • Turn on your device’s reduced-motion preference to reduce supported interface transitions.

Interactive calculators, filters and diagrams require JavaScript. These information pages can be read without it.

Limitations to be aware of

  • Exam-board PDFs: documents published by third parties can have different accessibility features. Some may have untagged layouts, scanned content or diagrams without text descriptions.
  • Graphs and diagrams: interactive visual content and exported images may not communicate every relationship through a screen reader. Where available, use the accompanying values, explanations and tables.
  • Downloaded reports: a PDF produced through your browser’s print function may not retain the structure or navigation of the web page.

If one of these gets in your way, send us the page or document link and tell us what you need. We will help where we can and explain any limitations.

How we check

Our checks include automated accessibility checks and browser testing of keyboard navigation, focus, contrast, responsive layouts and reduced-motion behaviour. The Take-Home Pay Calculator also has dedicated accessibility checks.

These checks help us find problems, but do not cover every browser, assistive technology or user experience. Feedback from people using the site is an important part of improving it.

Report a problem or request a format

Email info@economicsmadesimple.com. If possible, include:

  • The page address or the name of the document.
  • What you were trying to do and what stopped you.
  • Your browser or assistive technology, if you are comfortable sharing it.
  • The format or change that would help.

You do not need to share a diagnosis or medical information. We will review the issue and reply as soon as reasonably possible. Our Privacy page explains how we handle your message.
